23 - Girls will be girls

7/9 We had a soft night's sleep (Victory beds have mattresses!) and a good breakfast. Gerald's allergy meds are making him sleepy so while he rests, the girls are playing house and dressup and we're doing nails. Kate is feeling much better today. She skipped down the halls to breakfast :-) and enjoyed a plate of cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, fried onion patties and a bowl of unsugared flakes...yum yum!
It is very evident that God's in control throughout this journey. Both Kate and Gerald are feeling better today. Kate seems to really like us as she crawls into our bed each morning for hugging and loving. She and Cora are beginning to really enjoy each other and that's what we wanted for both girls. Kate runs to me when hurt--good sign. She makes very good eye contact and will stare into my eyes while I hold her. She has the cutest giggle and can even play jokes. When she and Cora entered our room ahead of us this morning, Kate hid behind the bed to jump out at us when we walked in. We've not done that with her, so she does know a bit about having fun. She teases, pouts, and whines to her parents. She's already blending in with our other kids.
We've had our first issue of who owns what. Kate apparently decided to apply yellow sparkle nail polish to the eyes of Cora's doll. Quite a beauty enhancement, although Cora wasn't so sure. I explained that Kate's never owned anything and this will be a new area for her to learn. I added that this'll probably happen many more times and there's not a way for me to change it until she understands English, so we must be patient and put things away if they're that important.
